Make Yourself Do It

April 12, 2014
Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty.

Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty.

The oldest trick in the book is just making yourself do it.

Sometimes, you have nothing forcing you to work. Sometimes, you have bosses. Sometimes, you have deadlines.

But all the time, you need to make yourself do it.

We list excuses:

-I’m tired.
-I’ll do it tomorrow (which doesn’t happen)
-I need to Netflix binge instead.
I just don’t feel like it.

But those excuses ain’t good enough. Rest is good but so is accomplishment.

If you have free time, then do some work. You can rest when it’s bed time.

Take this blog for example. I didn’t “feel” like writing a post today. But I’m long overdue, so I made myself do it.

Seriously. Just do it.

What is it you need to do? Practice scales? Write a song? Mix that new track? Take out the stinkin’ trash?

Make. Yourself. Do. It.

Close your browser and get to work. It’s worth it. You’ll never get what you need/want by being idle or just talking about it.

“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”

Proverbs 14:23
